How to… Sub steps, flams and weak beats

> When step-sequencing notes, the TR-8S lets you program faster subdivisions of note bursts – imagine trap-style hi-hat trills – called Sub Steps. Simply toggle the Sub button, then draw notes on the sequencer. These notes are yellow on the sequencer. Hold Sub and spin Value to 1/2 or 1/4.

Flams are performed the same way, except you hold Shift as you toggle the Sub button to activate this mode. Flam notes are coloured purple on the sequencer. You can also enter Weak (ie, quieter) beats – ideal for ghost notes. Just hold Shift and enter a step. A fainter red step colour indicates a weaker step.
