The Galston Equestrian Club is Off to a Busy Start in 2016

-

We have a full calendar, with not just our regular 2nd and 4th Sundays booked with fun events, but we also have 4 Saturdays booked with events as well. The response to our members’ survey was very good and the committee have done their best to incorporate as many of the suggestions received into the calendar as possible.

Our Registration Day is on Saturday 6th February, from 10.00am to 2.00pm, at our beautiful grounds. The Committee will be there to answer any questions and there will be a free car boot sale in the bottom area. Any existing or new GEC or Arcadia Pony Club members can bring their equestrian gear to sell, so bring your car (not your horse) and park in the bottom area. A good chance to clean out your tackroom and make space for new gear! Great bargains are sure to be had!

Our first event for the year is a Members’ Training Day on Sunday 14th February. We will be offering flatwork lessons with 2 highly recommended and experienced local coaches - Kate Taylor-Wheat and Peter Turner. For the show jumpers, we have poles and grids classes with the very experienced local eventing coach Amanda Benson. Members can do either a flatwork or poles and grids class, or both! Our informative flyers will be out soon.

On 28th February we will be having our first dressage competition of the year - our Members Only (Restricted) Dressage Day. So join early if you don’t want to miss the cut-off date for entry into the competition. Entries will close on 16th February, so you must have taken out your membership by then.

On Sunday 13th March we are very excited to announce we have a FREE Demonstration with Neil Pye of Parelli NaturalHorse-Man- Ship at the GEC grounds. If your interest is building a safe and trusting relationship with your horse, this opportunity is not to be missed. This free demonstration is open to members and non-members alike. So if you know anyone interested in horses, please bring them along. Look out for the flyer for more information about the day.

The 2016 Committee looks forward to welcoming new and returning members for an exciting and fun-filled new year!.
