Galston Garden Club

- Alpine Treemovals visit

We had another very well attended meeting last month with speaker Morrie Maait from Alpine TreeMovals. The next day many of us visited the nursery at 43 Moores Road, Glenorie, for a guided tour. This gave members a chance to see an aspect of the nursery industry which is rarely seen by the average gardener. The company specialises in rescuing mature trees from properties which are undergoing redevelopment, and re-potting them for resale. Members were amazed at the scale of the operation which has thousands of large trees in huge pots, many of the specimens being more than 5m tall. This is an exceptional local business which deserves to be more widely known.

Our Speaker next meeting will be Mark Massey. He is a clivea expert. Not sure on his exact topic, but it will be interesting!!! This meeting will be held on Wednesday 13th April , 8.00pm at the Galston Community Centre, 37 Arcadia Road, Galston.

The Kangaroo Valley day trip on Thursday 7th April is booking up fast. Members will visit two lovely gardens, lunch at Bistro One 46 by special request, Harper's Mansion and Berrima. Any queries for this, contact our Social Secretary, Richard Crompton, on oldesavannah@iinet.net.au.

Bill Fleming, our Open Gardens Convenor, would still love to hear from anyone interested in entering their garden in the Open Gardens this year. Phone him on 9653 2394 or email wfleming@ primusonline.com.au
