Dural Women’s Bowls

- Runner Up, Diana Sweeney, with champion Diane Trovato (right)

In its FIFTIETH YEAR, Dural Country Women bowlers have a new champion. One of the crop of promising new bowlers, Diane Trovato, was cool under pressure from not only Diana Sweeney, but also from the strong gusty winds which blew throughout the game. One of Dural’s few working women, Diane plays at the weekend with husband Tom and the Dural men’s club and has only recently been able to join the ladies on Tuesday. Both ladies had defeated the best in the club and were worthy finalists.

The club also hosted over 30 bowlers from the NSW Education Bowlers for a social visit recently and some top bowls were played. The visitors came from far and near and enjoyed the rural setting and the goats in the neighbour’s paddock.

It is a busy year with the big birthday celebrations in August and the members are keen to locate former bowlers to attend a luncheon on August 13th at the Country Club. Information can be obtained from Robyn or Gordon 9639 2742 or Larry O’Carroll 0402 631 492.
