The weather may be getting colder, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy being active in the pool. Galston Aquatic and Leisure Centre, which was recently upgraded with a new purpose built heated learn to swim pool, is the perfect place to introduce little ones to swimming! The centre also features a 25-metre indoor heated pool for recreational, squad swimming and aqua classes along with a fully equipped gymnasium. We run a fabulous Learn to Swim program, led by talented swim teachers, with lessons running all year round and available for all ages from babies to adults. Private lessons and intensive school holiday programs are also on offer to suit families’ busy schedules. While it is difficult to stay active and exercise during the Winter months, this well-equipped centre in Galston is a convenient, cosy way to work out and have fun.

On another note, I am thrilled to be able to host a dinner on 3 June for local SES members at the Hornsby RSL, to thank them for all their hard work in supporting our community and assisting residents in times of need. The SES plays an important role in Hornsby Shire by sacrificing their free time, comfort and sometimes safety. On behalf of all the residents in Hornsby Shire, I want to say that we are truly grateful.

Steve Russell

Mayor Hornsby Shire Council
