Galston Public School

- By Carole Weiss

Galston Public School students have been very busy organising and participating in a variety of events in Term 3.

Our school captains Madison and Jesse and Vice Captains Mannix and Emmi attended the Annual Student Leaders Morning Tea at Parliament House, hosted by our State Member, Mr Matt Kean. What an inspiring and enjoyable morning they experienced.

Congratulations to the SRC for its Devil Ark fundraising day. The money raised will help this wonderful organisation in its efforts to successfully breed the Tasmanian Devil in captivity. Another worthy cause which the SRC also organised and supported was Jeans for Genes Day.

Courageous and determined efforts were displayed by Galston Public School’s Athletics Team which competed in the Beecroft PSSA Zone Athletics Field and Track Events. What a fine group of sporting ambassadors these students were. The Junior Girls Relay team consisting of Alannah, Amber, Charli and Arabella finished first and qualified for the Sydney North PSSA Regional Athletics Carnival. A special congratulations to Amber who qualified for the 100m event. A wonderful group of parents must be thanked as they assisted with transporting the students to the Zone carnival and encouraged them for their awesome efforts on the day

What a wonderful excursion Kindergarten students had when they visited Calmsley Hill Farm. They had educational adventures while milking cows, patting baby lambs, watching sheep shearing and very gently holding baby chickens. An exciting day was had by everyone.

Kindergarten Orientations will be held over four weeks in November. The first orientation will be held on Wednesday the 8th November, 2017 at 5pm. The subsequent days will be each successive Wednesday (15th, 22nd , and 29th) at 9am.

If you are thinking of enrolling your child please come along and you will find out about the wonderful programs which have been planned for Kindergarten children in 2018. You will also be able to meet other parents and enjoy a chat over coffee and cake.

So if you would like to know more about our vibrant school, please contact the school office (9653 2062) and any questions you have, will be happily answered.
