Jesus the Ultimate Storyteller

- Pr. Alex and Dee Valich - Glenorie Community Church

The Bible is full of parables that Jesus told the people who gathered to listen to Him. Some were curious, some eager to hear a message of hope, some suspicious. The stories that Jesus told contained everyday activities that the people could relate to- but- each one also contained principles relating to God’s Word. They were and still are CONDUITS, through which the life- changing Truths of God can speak to our daily lives.

Here’s one from Luke 10:25-37.

“One day a lawyer stood up to test Jesus by asking Him this įŁÕĴļõĔčʞ ʾ‹Õ²ËñÕİʞ Ŗñ²ļ ČŁĴļ E ÑĔ ļĔ õčñÕİõļ ÕļÕİč²Ć ĆõêÕʤʿ

The man wanted to justify his actions so he asked Jesus, ‘Who is ČŘ čÕõëñÊĔŁİʤʿ

Jesus replied with a story: ‘A Jewish man was travelling from Jerusalem down to Jericho and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up and left him half dead beside the road.

By chance a priest came along, but when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and left him. A temple assistant walked over and saw him lying there but he also passed by on the other side.

Then a despised Samaritan came along and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, he soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn where he took care of him. The next day, he handed the innkeeper two silver coins telling him to take care of the man and ‘if his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’

Jesus asked, ‘Now, which of these three would you say was a čÕõëñÊĔŁİ ļĔ ļñÕ Č²č ŖñĔ Ŗ²Ĵ ²ļļ²ËăÕÑʤʿ

The lawyer replied, ‘The one who showed him mercy.’

Then Jesus said,’Yes. Now go and do the same.’
