Iden­ti­fy­ing marks Dif­fer­ent shapes and colours. Di­a­mond- or coffin­shaped head with prom­i­nent beak fold­ing un­der­neath the head. Hard ex­oskele­ton, long feel­ers. Up to 25mm long. Emer­gency mea­sures

Wash with soap and wa­ter, pat dry and use an­ti­sep­tic cream or pow­der. Ap­ply cold pack to re­duce pain and swelling. Use pain-re­lief med­i­ca­tion if needed. Seek med­i­cal at­ten­tion if al­ler­gic re­ac­tion such as swelling or breath­ing dif­fi­culty oc­curs. Lin­ger­ing ef­fects

Im­me­di­ate ex­treme burn­ing pain, de­vel­op­ing into itchy lump that may per­sist for sev­eral days. Ac­tion needed?

Look out for as­sas­sin bugs when you’re gar­den­ing, and wear gloves for pro­tec­tion.
