Edible garden
Pick ripe strawberries regularly and make sure the plants are always well mulched
Hang sticky yellow traps to catch white flies on tomatoes, mint and basil
Sow seeds of brussels sprouts into pots and put them in a cool spot in the garden so they can grow as much as possible before the cooler months arrive
Harvest garlic when your exploring fingers can feel well-developed bulbs in the soil, then leave them out on a bench to dry
Spray horticultural oil onto citrus trees to reduce damage from citrus leafminer, and repeat every month or so
Harvest the last of the asparagus spears, then allow the ferny leaves to develop and feed the roots
Keep picking beans (left) as this encourages plants to produce more pods
Cover berry plants with netting or mesh to keep birds away from the ripening fruit
Set up supports for eggplants to prevent their heavy fruits dragging the stems down
Mulch and water summer fruit trees very well while their fruit is developing
