The National Arboretum, ACT

-

I love trees. On occasion, I even like to hug them because it makes me feel better. While this extraordinary collection may not be on your radar, it should be. Highlights include the 2604-strong plantation of cork oaks, some of which are a century old. As well as 31 threatened species, the arboretum grows trees from Armenia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, to name a few. Before visiting, though, check the website for fire warnings. nationalarboretum.act.gov.au, (02) 6207 8484
