GOING WITH THE FLOW

-

“I’m not put off by things that aren’t planned. I have cornflowers popping up every year, calendulas coming out of my ears, and borage left right and centre! Strawberries are growing like weeds, so when I want to make room for something, I dig up clumps and clumps of them. I always let a few broccoli and carrots go to seed, because the bees and beneficial insects absolutely love them. I’ve got fennel growing everywhere, and it looks quite messy, but everything loves the flowers.

“This spring, I’m planting a lot more flowers like cosmos – because the more beneficial insects you can attract the better. By doing this, I have fewer issues with pests. I’m always finding blue tongue lizards, frogs – all sorts of things. And while everyone at the garden seems to have issues with aphids, I’ve never found one on any of my crops.”
