PROPAGATE CHINESE MONEY PLANT

-

The popular Chinese money plant, also known as pilea, produces lots of little offsets that can be used to propagate new plants. PHIL DUDMAN demonstrates how it’s done.

1 CHOOSE a small offset (a plantlet, pup or sucker) to remove, preferably one that’s growing out towards the edge of the pot, away from the main stem (this will be easier to remove).

2 CUT a little root ball around the offset, using a sharp knife, and dig it out. Trim the tips of the roots with secateurs to tidy up any rough cuts.

3 PLANT the sucker into a pot of premium potting mix. Place in a bright, but shaded position and keep moist.
