TAKE LAVENDER CUTTINGS

-

1 CUT leafy stems, 15cm long, from the main bush. Trim the base below a leaf node. Prune off floppy growth from the tip, then strip foliage from the bottom, leaving a few small leaves at the top.

2 FILL a pot with moist propagating mix. Use a pencil to make a hole in the mix for each cutting. Dip the bases of the cuttings in rooting hormone, then carefully plant them in the holes and water in.

3 MAKE a mini hothouse by covering the cuttings with a plastic bag placed over strong wire. Place pot in a bright, sheltered spot out of direct sun. Check regularly and water when needed. Pot up cuttings when roots have formed.
