Hard runs at Lockyer races

PUNTERS and the racing elite gathered at the Lockyer Race Club yesterday to enjoy a hard fought and entertaining seven race TAB program.

Welcome rain last week had affected the track, but it was rated as a good three and looked a picture for an excellent day of racing.

The first race of the day was the Freshwayz Transport QTIS three-year-old Maiden Handicap over 1400m.

Total prizemoney for this race was $10,000.

Court Couture, trained by Darryl Gollan and piloted by jockey Kenji Yoshida, crossed the line first.

Yoshida pushed his mount right to the finish to get on top of second favourite Ellie Belle.

Ellie Belle was trained by Kevin Kemp, and ridden by jockey Nozi Tomizawa.

Clangoranda, trained by Greg Cornish and ridden by jockey Sheree Drake, came in third, who was then followed by Nada To Prada, trained by Pat Duff and ridden by jockey Ms Ruby Ride.

Favourite Felton Phantom, trained by Darryl Gollan and ridden by jockey Alannah Fancourt, finished in sixth place.
