Council joining campaign against domestic violence
SOMERSET Regional Council has joined with councils from across the state to send a strong message that domestic violence will not be tolerated in the community.
The “Safer Families Better Communities” day of action is a chance for all members of the community to take a stand against domestic violence.
At 10am on Sunday, October 11, residents are invited to gather outside the visitor information centres in Fernvale, Esk and Kilcoy. A short ceremony will take place and participants will be invited to wear white arm bands as a show of public support.
Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann welcomed the opportunity for the Somerset community to speak out against domestic violence.
“Everyone is encouraged to come along and take a stand with council against the devastating impact of domestic violence and send the message that when we have safer families, we have better communities,” Cr Lehmann said.
