New app maps pests
A NEW app is available for anyone who wants to record pest animals in their local area, help coordinate local pest control, and inform local land managers.
The ‘FeralScan pest mapping app’ is available for Apple and Android users, and has been funded by the Invasive Animals CRC, NSWLocal Land Services, Landcare groups and the Federal Government.
The app is easy to use, and can even be used when your mobile is offline.
It is linked to the popular FeralScan web-mapping service which now hosts over 35,000 community records of pest animals, impacts and control actions.
The app is being used by farmers, community-groups, local government, NRM groups, and pest control professionals across the country.
It’s available from the App Store and Google Play.
The Invasive Animals CRC is critical in efforts to combat the threat of invasive animals by developing new technologies and integrated strategies that are more humane, target specific and effective to reduce the impact of invasive animals in Australia.
