Roadworks soon to be completed
SOMERSET Regional Council has completed bitumen sealing works on Millar Road and Theuerkaufs Road, Fairney View.
Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann has welcomed Council's upgrade of roads south of Fernvale.
"I thank residents and other users of Millar Road and Theuerkaufs Road for their patience over recent weeks," Cr Lehmann said.
"These have been jobs worth waiting for and give people improved options to link up to strategic roads like Fernvale Road and Claus Road.”
Each day, about 5000 vehicles travel along the Brisbane Valley Highway from Fernvale and Lowood.
“We need to keep pressing for improvements to Brisbane Valley Highway and I thank the State Government and our local member Jim Madden for recent works on the highway,” Cr Lehmann said.
“Ultimately, the Brisbane Valley Highway will require further improvements to reflect the rapid growth of Somerset and the value of goods produced here.
“In the meantime, there is a lot that we as Council can do to provide alternatives to the Brisbane Valley Highway.
“I encourage residents and businesses to explore their options for getting to theWarrego Highway for when there are problems on the Brisbane Valley Highway.
“I think that Claus Road is a great alternative for residents travelling south.”
Cr Lehmann said the latest road upgrades south of Fernvale will help connect people better and he thanked everyone involved in the project.
