Cowboy hats as far as the eye can see

ABOUT 500 punters and 140 caravaners made their way to the Laidley Country Music Festival last week.

Event organiser Ken Maguire said it was one of the best crowds they’d had yet.

“The whole week has been really good and everyone really enjoyed the performances,” Mr Maguire said.

Highlighting the festival were national artists Laura Downing, Jeff Brown, Pete Smith, Trevor Tolton and Ken Mellow and the Innes kids, who all played on the main stage.

Another highlight of the festival was the walk-up concert with Greg Dillon.

“Anyone who wanted to sing got up and had a go and there were plenty of talented local singers,” Mr Maguire said.

“It was a good opportunity for local singers that perhaps haven’t been discovered yet.

“We had around 35 to 40 walk-up artists over the week.

“We’d also like to say a huge thank you to all the local businesses that made generous donations for our daily raffle.”
