Braving the shave

ONE Hatton Vale couple will embrace a new look as they brave the shave in aid of a good cause.

Ian and Wendy Knopke will lose their hair as part of the Team J and J for the World’s Greatest Shave Golf Day this Saturday.

Along with raising money, Ian said the shave would hold special significance for the pair.

“Wendy and I both knew Jordan and Jodie whom Team J and J represent,” Ian said.

“Recently I lost a cousin to a very aggressive MS too, nothing to do with leukaemia, but they were a lovely person and it just made me realise how precious your health is and what a short time you have to give back to the community.”

Ian has tamed his mullet and goatee since he was a teenager but would farewell the look on Saturday.

“We donate usually but this year we thought we would take a different approach,” he said.

“The Lockyer Valley community has been good to us in business for 24 years so I found this is one way we can give back.”

The Knopkes said they hoped to raise $2000.

“Anyone that is prepared to do it, come down because the cause is well worthwhile,” Ian said.

The golf day will be a two-person ambrose held at the Fairways Tavern and Golf Club this Saturday with tee-off at 11am. There will also be market stalls on site for the event.
