Business veterans honoured
TWO Lockyer Valley business stalwarts were honoured with life memberships of Lockyer Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday night.
Bill Beckman, formerly of Gatton Jewellers, and Graham Naumann, formerly of Vanderfield Machinery, were both presented with life memberships for their work over many years with the community.
The achievements of four local businesses also were recognised at the function at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
They were Gatton Meat Centre, Mitre 10 Laidley, Lee and Sons Plumbing and Brake and Clutch Suppplies.
Mal and Lyn Joyner, formerly of Gatton Dry Cleaners and Traditional Tiles but now retired, were also recognised for their many years in business in the region.
The story from every one of the recognition recipients was similar – their success came from hard work, commitment and long hours.
They all revealed that the the road to success in the business world is not an easy one.
However, each recipient also had a unique and interesting tale to tell of their time serving the local community.
The recognition dinner looks set to become an important fixture on the social calendar.
Lockyer Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Paul Emmerson described the event in two simple words – “just awesome”.
Chamber vice president John Schollick also was ecstatic with the success of the night.
He suggested the event was a perfect networking forum for the local business community.
