SOMERSET Re­gional Coun­cil is pleased to again of­fer Somerset res­i­dents free trees for their prop­er­ties.

The sec­ond free tree dis­tri­bu­tion day will be held at Fern­vale from 8-11am on Satur­day at Me­mo­rial Park.

Res­i­dents can claim ei­ther two or ten free trees upon pre­sen­ta­tion of the Free Tree Voucher which was at­tached to the Somerset Life­style Spring newsletter that was posted to res­i­dents mail­boxes.

A Free Tree Voucher will en­ti­tle res­i­dents liv­ing on sub­ur­ban/house block to two free trees.

Plants that will be avail­able for res­i­dents liv­ing on sub­ur­ban/ house blocks for res­i­den­tial gar­dens will be flow­er­ing and bird at­tract­ing species, and will in­clude coun­cil’s flo­ral em­blem plants – Weep­ing Bot­tle­brush and Na­tive Frangi­pani.

Plants pro­vided for Land for Wildlife par­tic­i­pants and prop­er­ties larger than 20 acres will be na­tive trees ap­pro­pri­ate for re-veg­e­ta­tion and habi­tat plant­ings, with a par­tic­u­lar fo­cus on koala trees.

Res­i­dents are en­cour­aged to bring a reusable bag or box along to col­lect their free trees.
