WITH storms and more good rain­fall across the south-east, the mar­ket again showed a sig­nif­i­cant in­crease at Star­iha Auc­tions Woodford cat­tle sale on Mon­day. Weaner steers and cows were in de­mand.

TS Car­berry, Ela­man Creek, sold senepol steers, 7-8 months, for $880 and 4-5 month old calves for $535. John Cham­bers, Neu­rum, sold santa calves 5-6 months, with steers mak­ing $670 and heifers $585. Nevil Green, Vil­leneuve, sold 7-8 month old drought­mas­ter steers for $810 and heifers for $670. David Porter, Mt Mee, sold an­gus store calves, with steers mak­ing $480 and heifers $420. Trevor and Natasha Weaver, Kil­coy, sold a line of drought­mas­ter heifers for $980. Peter Laver­combe, Mt Mee, sold a young an­gus bull for $1200. Terry Prat­ten, Kil­coy, sold sim­men­tal-cross cows for $1310 and store cows for $1090. Ger­ber Farms, Claren­don, sold Fre­sian cows for $1270.
