Needed boost for RSL

Gatton Star - - NEWS -

MEMBER for Wright and Assistant Minister for Roads and Transport Scott Bucholz paid a visit to the Gatton RSL Sub-branch earlier this month.

While there, Mr Bucholz supplied the sub-branch with a $13,950 BEST grant to assist in the many hours of volunteer work the sub-branch’s volunteers contributed.

One of the many important activities the RSL is involved in is a weekly Tuesday morning exercise group.

The group has grown significantly in recent months and members partake in the light circuit program conducted at the Gatton Sports and Aquatic Centre under trainer Luke Spencer.

Mr Buchholz has attended one of these sessions and says he is looking forward to participating again and that programs like this are vital to keeping seniors and retirees healthy and fit.

The Building Excellence in Support and Training grants are a program run by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to support organisations in providing compensation and welfare assistance to the defence and veteran communities.
