Upgrade complete ahead of schedule
A $10 MILLION upgrade on the Warrego Highway at the Lowood-minden and Tallegalla Rds intersection has been completed ahead of schedule.
Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden said the safety improvements had reduced conflict points between vehicles and improved turning lanes.
“Longer turning lanes were built to allow for more capacity and prevent queuing vehicles blocking through lanes,” Mr Madden said.
“This will also prevent buses and long vehicles overhanging into Warrego Highway traffic while giving way in the median.
“New bus stops have also been built in safer locations off the highway.”
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the project was delivered after community members had highlighted safety issues at the intersection.
“Accident statistics show a high number of incidents at this intersection so I’m pleased we’ve delivered improvement to reduce further crashes and injuries and done it ahead of schedule too.”
Mr Bailey thanked motorists and locals for their patience during construction.
