Chance to learn from legislators
DO you have an interest in politics? Are you aged between 15 and 25 years?
If this sounds like you, the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament might be just the place for you.
Applications are now open for this year’s parliament, which serves as a bridge between legislators and youth and gives participants the chance to rub shoulders with Queensland’s legislators while serving as an avenue for personal development in a wide range of fields.
Lockyer MP Jim Mcdonald is keen to facilitate the program again this year.
“Queensland Youth Parliament is a unique opportunity for a young community-minded person to represent their electorate in front of like-minded individuals from across the state,” Mr Mcdonald said.
Lockyer has a history of strong participation in Queensland’s Youth Parliament, including journalist Charlie Peel who represented Lockyer in 2004 and went on to be a joint winner of the Australian Young Journalist of the Year Award 2017.
Applications close February 22. Contact the Lockyer Electorate Office for details.
