Support those who support us
ENJOY a night of fun and yum while supporting an important cause.
Laidley Chaplaincy Committee is hosting their annual dessert night on Tuesday, May 28, and is encouraging the community to come along and support the vital work of chappies.
Committee chair Kerry Battersby said chappies spent nearly half of their time providing social, emotional and spiritual support to the community and the dessert night was an opportunity for the community to support them.
“Chaplains really provide a critical support service to the community,” she said.
“It’s just going to be a really good night to get together to support the school community.”
The event is free to attend, with donations to support local chappies encouraged.
Laidley District State School head of curriculum and 2019 Mayoral Award winner Nicci Martin will be guest speaker on the night.
Mrs Battersby was excited for her talk.
“She’s going to be talking a little about what she believes in about the value of the school community and the role it plays,” she said.
“And, of course, being the recipient of the Mayoral Award at this year’s Australia Day honours – she’ll be talking a little bit about that.”
The night kicks off at 6pm next Tuesday at Laidley Cultural Centre.
