Unacceptable debt

Gatton Star - - YOUR SAY -

THANKFULLY, the federal election is now behind us.

Let us now prepare for forthcoming local council elections. I believe some change is necessary for this Lockyer Valley Region. Heaven forbid, we become controlled by political party members.

We require dedicated, grass root, genuine concerned elected members into council.

This council is far too deep in debt, through older councillors, too ambitious, out of step with reality, squandering our rateable income on unacceptable expensive schemes.

Under former and some older existing councillor direction, too many mismanaged, contracts such as roadway, bridges and other infrastructural contracts, leaving ratepayers with unwanted debt.

These councillors must be removed. They have no conscience. Conversely, we require support for more recently elected members, to encourage their efforts toward better management and desire to bite the bullet to lower our debt to a more manageable level, well down from the current $25 million we appear to be indebted at.

I certainly do not envy these newer Councillors situation in trying to haul in the debt, whilst the land valuations increase randomly.

We desperately require to have better switched on councillors elected into our regional council, to balance or assist more recently elected members.
