MISS POTTER
7FLIX, Sunday, 6.30pm, G (2006)
Unlike her books, Beatrix Potter took forever to reach a happy ending, as Chris Noonan’s biopic portrays. Renée Zellweger (pictured) deploys her trademark facial tics in a capricious portrayal of the English creator of Peter Rabbit whose far-fetched imagination totters between lovable and unsettling. Ewan McGregor plays love-interest Norman, who endears himself to her by regarding her ideas with a sincerity that no one else offers. Director Noonan’s story of a misunderstood author floats between a social reflection of the era and children’s fare. ★★★
