Marlin to make big entry

-

THE ship carrying the hull of the Australian Navy’s biggest warship is expected to enter Port Phillip Heads about 10.30am today.

The 80,000-tonne semisubmersible vessel, the MV Blue Marlin, will anchor off Geelong before making its way to Lascelles Wharf No.3 tomorrow.

‘‘ The Port Phillip sea pilots will begin carefully guiding the Blue Marlin into Geelong about 7am Thursday,’’ Victorian Regional Channels Authority chief executive Captain McGovern said.

‘‘Her arrival into Geelong’s port is dependent on weather conditions but hopefully there will be no delay.’’

The Blue Marlin, carrying the new 230m Landing Helicopter Dock hull of the next HMAS Canberra, should be tied up about 10am tomorrow.
