FEED Gee­long or­gan­is­ers are still cal­cu­lat­ing the ap­peal tally af­ter hun­dreds of peo­ple do­nated the prices of their lunches on World Food Day.

Give Where You Live mar­ket­ing man­ager Sheri­dan Salmon said Brown Pa­per Bag Day had been a suc­cess.

Schoolkids j oined staff and sup­port­ers at up to 20 em­ploy­ers and or­gan­i­sa­tions con­tribut­ing to the ap­peal and help­ing the city’s home­less and hun­gry.

The ap­peal to­tal was $2643 yes­ter­day, not in­clud­ing Brown Pa­per Bag Day earn­ings.

Or­gan­is­ers are tak­ing book­ings for a Feed Gee­long community lunch on Oc­to­ber 26. Tick­ets for the two-course meal of do­nated food at Gee­long’s Christ Church Hall are $50 a head.
