Bring back the night watch

-

IN my younger days, it was common to see nightwatchmen sitting by a brazier at night while keeping an eye on property.

Surely it wouldn’t be all that expensive to have these men back on new housing estates and other building sites.

Any extra cost would surely be minor compared with the costs of replacing stolen equipment and damaged property, such as was reported ( GA, October 17) about the new house in Lara.

Also insurance premiums should be lower with this sort of protection in place. What do other readers think?
