Family fun for $50? We’ve got it in the (show)bag

JUST how far does $50 go at the Royal Geelong Show?

Yesterday the Geelong Advertiser decided to answer that very question with the help of the Harbert family.

Mum and dad Carly and Paul, with their children Ryan, 11, and Madeleine, 8, are regular show-goers and were only too happy to take on the Advertiser’s $50 challenge.

Madeleine went first, buying fairy floss on a stick for $4.

She and Ryan then tried their luck with three tickets that cost $2 each.

For fun and games, the siblings tried fishing for Donald Duck, which cost t hem $ 1 0 for three attempts at hooking Donald out of the water for a prize.

They got only Dewey ducks but did not go home empty-handed.

Ryan won a toy gun for his efforts and Madeleine a doll.

Next up, they headed to the Zorba ride, which allows children to get inside a rubber bubble and splash around in water. It cost $10 per child but both agreed it was
