A proposed $20 million mineral spa complex on Geelong’s waterfront has received a mixed reaction.

Try cleaning up, and fixing Geelong before spending $20 million on something Geelong doesn’t need. Eden Cloney

Revitalise the one that used to be in Clifton Springs. Let’s think about the whole region, not just the CBD. Joanne Suseto

Maybe for good international tourists all cashed up and ready to spend, but what about us Aussie tourists? Make Geelong an RV (recreation vehicle) friendly place with a camp ground. I run a camping page with over 42,000 members who would love to visit. Terri-Lee Campion

Let’s start with the CBD, which should be a reflection of the region. Mimi Simunic

The article states this is a potential private venture and the CoGG is not spending $20 million on the project. The CoGG has funded only the business case/feasibility study for the potential private venture. Simon Rowan

For those complaining about empty shops in the CBD, stop shopping in Westfield and support small traders. Maura Fitzgerald

Awesome idea. Think this would be great. Tourists, locals wanting to relax, hens parties Mother’s Day vouchers. Gosh, so many reasons I would go. Lauren Bruns

Absolutely. People travel all around Victoria for a beautiful mineral spa. Having one on our doorstep is a great idea. Larissa Young

Definitely. It will bring so much business to not only the waterfront, but to the city centre and surroundings. We need more major tourist attractions. Loralie Hobbs

$20 million for a spa, $45 million for a pier and we still don’t have a rail link to Avalon Airport. What is the point of tourist attractions if people have no way of getting to them. Glenn W Richards

Love it, but seriously leave the waterfront alone and focus on the rest of the city that actu- ally needs the attention. The waterfront is already perfect. Lianda Jane

Jobs first then worry about this, but not on the waterfront. Geelong is beautiful as is. Damien Thompson

Private enterprise people not council spending. Read the article. Ebony Reeve Raby

I think the spa would be more relaxing in Clifton Springs, where it used to have mineral springs, than in the polluted CBD. Rachel Calleja

I love the idea, but money should be invested on getting people to live in Geelong, through job creation. Tourists bring money, but boring ghost towns scare tourists away. Kikka Yim
