In my home pantry you will always find … the ingredients to make mama’s lasagne. What I like to see on a cheese platter is … a nice creamy Meredith goats or a nice vintage cheddar, and if there’s pear on the platter it had better be ripe. I don’t have a sweet tooth but I still can’t resist … a good old sticky date pudding. The one thing I would never buy is … anything with sesame seeds. What purpose do they have in any dish? It’s not pretty but I love … a cheeky bowl of mee goreng. I never skimp on … toilet paper. Anything else, though, I’ll happily buy home brand. You’d never catch me eating … pickles from the jar. I’d always put butter on … hot cross buns. I’ll never forget … dropping two full boxes of eggs down two flights of stairs. The worst thing I ever ordered out was … soggy risotto. I’ve stopped ordering it now, having had my fair share of overpriced mushy rice. When our family celebrates we … fire up the Weber and let the magic happen. My current obsession is with … Heston Blumenthal. The man is an absolute genius. The place on my wish list is … Thomas Keller’s restaurant, The French Laundry, in California.
