Global eye on trials

THE Deans Marsh Sheep Dog Trials attracted international visitors as well as competitors and their dogs.

Each dog at the event takes its turn on the football oval, with its owner, to walk three sheep through a gap between two railings and up a race before gathering them in a small yard. The time limit is 15 minutes.

“This is a dying art,” said trial co-organiser Jill Stewart, because more farmers were using motorbikes to manage their sheep.
