The Dictator ONE, 9pm, MA15+ (2012)
MOVIE
The always-controversial Sacha Baron Cohen presents yet another outrageous character in this comedic mockumentary. Following on from the success of Kazakh journalist Borat and fabulous fashionista Brüno, Baron Cohen’s takes on the persona of Admiral General Aladeen, a dictator from a fictitious country called the Republic of Wadiya. Loosely based on the life of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and a romance novel penned by ex-Iraqi tyrant Saddam Hussein, The Dictator will undoubtedly ensure its viewers leave either grossly offended or in stitches – in other words, another Sacha Baron Cohen masterpiece.
