Race ace stalls as python fangs it

-

SIX-TIME V8 Supercars champion Jamie Whincup was bitten by a snake at a preseason promotion at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo yesterday.

The 1m, non-venomous black-headed python latched on to Whincup’s hand during a photo shoot with the series trophy he’ll defend this season. It took a few minutes to unattach the snake, leaving Whincup with a slight wound from the teeth marks.

“It was pretty painful,” Whincup said. “We pushed the friendship a little bit.

“We decided to have the snake round the championship trophy and we moved around a few times and it wanted to get out of there.”
