Mum’s kidnap charge D-day

-

A WOMAN arrested on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast for kidnapping her infant daughter almost two decades earlier, looks set to plead guilty in a US court next week.

While on a supervised visit with her baby Savanna in 1994, Dorothy Barnett, of South Carolina, allegedly fled to South Africa and New Zealand with fake passports and IDs before settling in Queensland.

Ms Barnett’s daughter, now 21, grew up believing her name was Samantha Geldenhuys.

She only discovered her real name when Ms Barnett was arrested in 2013.
