St Peter’s bolstered by surprise Ashwin visit
INDIAN star Ravi Ashwin made a surprise appearance at St Peter’s cricket training this week.
The 28-year-old, ranked the world’s No.2 Test allrounder, bowled in the nets and freely offered advice to batsmen and bowlers during the 90-minute session.
Ashwin, pictured, was invited to attend Tuesday’s training by St Peter’s coach VRS Kedarnath, who has known the international star since they played school and state junior cricket together in Chennai.
Ashwin rose to prominence by starring with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, before representing India in all three formats.
He is now preparing for India’s World Cup campaign, which begins with a clash against traditional rivals Pakistan in Adelaide on February 15.
