Bucket of laughs

-

TV news crews, be warned: interviewing Geelong players may come with a chance of showers.

Channel Ten sports reporter Duncan McKenzie-McHarg copped a free shower during his live cross with Cats skipper Joel Selwood at Adventure Park.

Cameras continued to roll while star defender Harry Taylor crept up behind the interviewer and drenched him with a full bucket of water.

Ever the good sport, the reporter laughed it off and shook hands with his prankster straight after.

“I knew the players were up to something behind me, because they were all whispering and laughing,” McKenzie-McHarg told News Corp.

Selwood also sent an ominous warning to the other networks, tweeting: “Which media team is going to take on geelongcats next???”

Apart from getting up to mischief, the team has been busy meeting and greeting the public during their coastal community camp.

Players have been snapping up a storm this week sharing pics of themselves with supporters young and old on the Surf Coast and Bellarine.

Anglesea school kids got the chance to rub shoulders with their heroes at a footy clinic, while children at Queenscliff’s Cottage by the Sea played a spot of dye dodgeball with Jackson Thurlow and Corey Enright.

George Horlin-Smith and Cam Guthrie also had the chance to play teacher for the day at St Leonards Primary School.

Not forgetting their oldest fans, players visited nursing homes in Lorne and Anglesea earlier in the week, catching up with their oldest fans.

Not all were Cats supporters though, with one even trying to re-recruit Jared Rivers back to the Dees.

It’s back to business this weekend, with a squad set to take on the Gold Coast Suns in Townsville for their opening NAB Challenge match tomorrow.
