A BRAZILIAN boy, 5, has died after surgery to separate him from his conjoined twin brother.

Heitor and Arthur Rocha, who were joined at the hip and shared many internal organs including intestines and a bladder, underwent 15 hours of risky separation surgery in the city of Goiania last week.

But Arthur died after going into cardiac arrest.

Surgeons said Heitor was on a respirator and suffering from fever following the surgery, which left both boys with just one leg.

The twins had already had 15 previous operations.
