Firman’s ton leaves Bannockburn in the wilderness
THANKS to a century by wicketkeeper Ben Firman, Teesdale has set Bannockburn the daunting task of chasing down 316 runs for victory in their Round 13 clash.
Teesdale took control of the match the moment it won the toss and elected to bat — and did not give Bannockburn a chance to get back in the contest.
The one batsman Bannock- burn’s bowlers had no answers for was Firman, as the Teesdale opener hit them all over the park during his imposing knock of 126.
Firman has been in good form with the willow. The wicketkeeper-batsman came into the match on the back of an unbeaten 45.
While he was the standout batsman, he wasn’t alone as captain Alister Woods tried his best to make a ton himself, though he had to settle for 88.
If it wasn’t for the bowling of Connor Jervies, who took 5-55, it’s scary to think what Teesdale might have gone on and made.
From his impressive 16 overs, Jervies took some big scalps, including those of Firman and Woods.
But despite the best efforts of Jervies, the damage seems to have been done — and Bannockburn will need to produce something really special to claim victory.
