At South Barwon Reserve

-

GROVEDALE captain Barry Tsitas put the acid on his underperforming top order to step up after the previous round’s loss to East Belmont. Now, with a finals spot up for grabs, they have their chance to deliver.

The Tigers put themselves in a dominant position on day one after restricting South Barwon to 134 on a tough day for batting. Chris Young was the star for Grovedale, snaring 4-29 from 16 overs as his team choked South to under two an over for most of the day. South’s big guns failed to fire, leaving Kyle Bienefelt (40) and the promoted Darren Hauenstein (29 not out) to salvage something from the innings. In reply, Tobias Hogg (11 not out) and Conrad Louth (10 not out) looked solid in steering the Tigers to 1-33.
