Lamb leads to Gulls slaughter

“They seem to be coming out OK at the moment,” the 42-year-old quick said.

“I seem to have found a little bit of consistency. Learning how to control the ball has been the biggest thing.”

Lamb had solid support from new-ball partner Andy Higgins, who took 1-28 from 17 overs and co-coach Corey Walter (2-15).

“Corey stepped up and took two crucial wickets,” Lamb said. “It’s difficult to chase runs on these hard wickets.”

Lamb, who has returned to cricket this season after a decorated career in England and at St Peter’s in the GCA, has taken 31 wickets this season at an average of 7.71 and is enjoying the low-key environment at Collendina.

“They don’t take themselves too seriously here,” he said.

“I’ve got a young family and my wife can bring the kids down to the playground and I can walk home after a few beers. Playing down the road (at St Peter’s), I couldn’t do that.”

The Cobras are not making up the numbers and have a genuine chance against Anglesea, which lacks finals experience.

“We’re getting some momentum,” Lamb said. “We’ve still got our concerns with the bat, but then who hasn’t? We’ve put ourselves in the mix.”
