Underworld: Evolution GO!, 10pm, AV15+ (2006)

Kate Beckinsale (left) returns in this follow-up to the 2003 saga. Beckinsale is modern-day vamp Selene, a “Death Dealer” who – along with her half-werewolf beau Michael (Scott Speedman) – puts aside the smiting of nasty beasties to seek out the origins of both the vampire and werewolf bloodlines. This leads them into conflict with the creepy Viktor (Bill Nighy) who has his own grand designs for a new world order. Director (and Kate’s hubby) Len Wiseman hasn’t evolved much as a filmmaker, which matters little as fans will love this sequel’s dogged determination to replicate the dour style, relentless action and striking visuals of the original.
