Gallipoli NINE, 9pm

The horrors of war are placed centre stage in this Australian-made TV series and is brought to vivid life by young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee ( The Road, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as 17-year-old soldier Thomas “Tolly” Johnson. Tonight, after Tolly recovers from his injuries, he is returned to the battlefields of Gallipoli, Turkey. But it’s not long before one of his close friends and fellow soldier is killed, leading Tolly to volunteer to be a sniper under the tutelage of a Chinese-Australian. Meanwhile, Ashmead-Bartlett (James Callis) captures the reality of the battlefield for the first time with a newly created camera.
