WALKER’S ALREADY A MASTER

HEIDELBERG Golf Club rising star Toby Walker shot the lights out to claim the Portarlington Golf Club’s junior masters yesterday. Walker, pictured right, who plays off plus-two, shot 71 off the stick to finish a shot clear of Thirteenth Beach’s Max Green. Walker dominated the field of 64, making four birdies and three bogeys on his way to victory. His win was sealed on the back nine, where he made birdies on 11 and 13 and made no mistakes to shoot two-under. Bermagui’s Jack Glasson was second to Walker in the boys’ under-18 gross, firing 78, while Clifton Springs’ James Daglas was third with 81. Hamilton’s Angus Boyd fired 69 to win the boys under-18 nett, beating Medway’s Jordan Smith (73) and Queens Park’s Tom Saraghan (73). Winchelsea rising star Lachie Bath shot a nett 64 to win the boys’ under-16 nett ahead of Medway’s Jack Mackenzie (68) and Curlewis’ Callum Stow (73). Bath’s performance was also good enough to win the Portarlington junior three-round aggregate. Bunninyong’s Amy Leeson won the girls’ gross with a round of 77, downing Colac’s Georgia Fish (84) and Sunshine’s Lauren Goddard (87), while Queens Park’s Angelina Hogan-Fox won the girls nett with a score of 73. Green won the boys’ under-14 gross with 72, defeating Barwon Valley’s Bryson Nicholls (83) and Medway’s Josef Mackenzie (85). Valentin Rodrigriuez, of 13th Beach, claimed the under-14 boys’ nett with a score of 66, with Midlands Thomas Yorke second on 68 and Barwon Heads’ Stirling Shier third on 70. The under-16 boys’ gross was won by Barwon Valley’s Mitchell Crabbe on 78, while Portarlington’s Jack Martin (79) and Thirteenth Beach’s Darby Waldron (85) made up the placings.
