Charity house a dream come true for family

- TESSA HAYWARD

THE family that purchased the Good Friday Appeal Charity House has moved in and is enjoying all the spoils of its new home.

Enzo and Carmela Palladini bought the house just two days after they first saw it and said it was the “dream home” for them and their two children Alexander and Annalyse.

Mrs Palladini said they had been looking to buy a display home as they didn’t want to build and didn’t want to have to wait for a house.

“This was perfect for us, it was very nerve-racking buying it at auction like that but it was worth it,” she said.

Mr Palladini also said that if the charity house was built in Geelong again next year, they would consider buying it as the money was going to such a worthwhile cause.

The house was built and donated by Henley on land supplied by Villawood Properties in its flagship Armstrong community in Mt Duneed.

Henley has been involved in the project for 24 years and Villawood eight years. The two companies have contributed $5 million from the charity house auctions in that period.

Nine bidders competed for the house that eventually sold for $627,500 with every dollar being donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The house took five months to build, with 400 tradies and suppliers chipping in.
