Mind over matter

-

THE last time Anna Winter was in Geelong she was “in hiding” at her mum’s Manifold Heights home.

After being eliminated from The Biggest Loser, the Moree woman wanted some time out. She spent two months tackling the city’s walks, such as the Eastern Beach steps and the promenade, and eating fresh seafood from Bay City Fisheries.

“I could have gone back but I knew it was so early in the piece I hadn’t formed new habits, I needed time for Anna,” she said.

“I lost 30kg in Geelong and the show together . . . when I went back to Moree I lost another 20kg more.”

She didn’t mince words when describing her motivation for bringing her weight loss discussion workshop to Geelong.

“It’s become the norm to be fat,” she said.

Ms Winter weighed 117.5kg when she first went on the show and now weighs about 67kg. But she says that it’s just a number and the biggest transformation was her mindset.

“I’ll be sharing some of my mindset, I suppose after being overweight for more than 20 years, and gosh I tried everything,” she said.

“I did 10 years of fertility treatment, which has been a big part of my weight problem, coupled together with having been unable to have a child, emotionally I hated my weight in my 30s.

“The thing Biggest Loser did for me was I was stripped bare, literally got down to my bra and undies and said I’ve had enough, it’s time for change.

“So that’s what Crunch Time is about, trying to get people into my headspace to flick that switch.”

Ms Winter and AK47 trainer Chris Bradford will be teaming up for the weight loss and fitness workshop in South Geelong called Crunch Time, where they will be talking about nutrition, setting goals and tips and hints.

“I put my food first, I think that’s one of the biggest things, being organised with my food came at the forefront and then my training,” she said.

“A typical day for me starts with whole foods, rolled oats cooked in water, with something seasonal.”

The event will be held at 105 Balliang St, South Geelong, at 6.30pm on Thursday.
