Vehicles with key in it an easy steal

MULTIPLE thefts were reported of vehicles in North Geelong, Bell Park, Geelong, Corio, Geelong West, Hamlyn Heights, Herne Hill, Belmont, Lovely Banks, Norlane, South Geelong and Whittingto­n. Five incidents related to keys being left in the vehicles. The majority of offences were at night with a high number stolen from residentia­l premises. THERE were offences in East Geelong, South Geelong, North Geelong, Torquay, Newtown, Geelong, Belmont and various other suburbs. The majority of incidents continue to happen at night, mainly in the streets and driveways of residentia­l premises. Half the recorded incidents had no visible force recorded as the mode of entry. Small items continue to be targeted including cash, handbags, purses, credit cards and jewellery. This last week has also seen an increase in tools being stolen from work vehicles. About 30 registrati­on plates were also stolen from Belmont, Newtown, Geelong, St Albans Park, Lara, Breakwater and Grovedale. HOUSES have been burgled in Corio, Norlane, Highton, Herne Hill, Bell Park, East Geelong and Newcomb. The Bellarine Peninsula has also been targeted with people in Portarling­ton, St Leonards, Indented Head, Clifton Springs and Leopold all reporting incidents. In Torquay, Gnarwarre and Colac four vehicles were stolen as a result of offenders finding spare keys. Power tools, jewellery, mobile phones, laptops and iPads were also taken. Garages and sheds were targeted eight times. In seven of the incidents there was no sign of forced entry. THERE were burglaries in Aireys Inlet, Corio, Lara and South Geelong.

The industrial area of North Geelong continues to be a target, as does the Pakington St shopping strip. All incidents happened at night. A HIGH number of incidents occurred in Barwon Heads, Geelong, Lara, Colac, Norlane, Bell Post Hill, South Geelong, Thomson, Colac and Geelong West. Ten incidents of graffiti vandalism were reported in various suburbs, including four in Barwon Heads. The highest number of incidents continue to happen at or near homes involving damage to house windows and car windows.
